Arlene WithersNational Director of Organizational and Employee Development
Arlene Falk Withers is an executive coach, consultant, attorney, human resources professional and corporate executive. She currently serves as the National Director of Organizational and Employee Development for SAG-AFTRA, whose 160,000 members are the faces and voices that entertain and inform America and the world. Prior to that, she served as Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for the Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans, which provides health and retirement benefits to over 120,000 participants and dependents in the motion picture industry.
Previously she served in both line and staff executive roles in the insurance, healthcare and motion picture industries, including serving as President of a $6 billion annuities and long term care insurance division of a major life insurance company, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for an insurance company, and Vice President of Human Resources for a 15 hospital healthcare system. She has also worked as a process reengineering consultant, an executive coach, was an adjunct professor at the UCLA School of Law and at Fielding Graduate University, and practiced law with the Los Angeles-based law firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, specializing in labor and employment law.
Ms. Withers received her BA from the University of Connecticut, where she graduated with highest honors, and received her JD from the UCLA School of Law. She also pursued doctoral studies in Cultural Anthropology on full fellowships from Yale University and the University of Rochester.
In addition to having served on four of the Transamerica Life Companies’ Boards of Directors, she has served on numerous professional and non-profit Boards, among which are Fielding Graduate University, the Visiting Nurses Association of Los Angeles, the Partners in Care Foundation, Sojourn Services for Battered Women, Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, California Women Lawyers, Organization of Women Executives, the California State Bar Committee on Women and the Law, the Conference Board Executive Coaching Council, and the Conference Board Work and Family Council. Ms. Withers served from 2013 to 2016 as Chair of the Board of Directors of Heifer International, an international development NGO, and continues on the Board as immediate past Chair.
